Jura Krakowsko-CzestochowskaIf you want to spend your time actively, it is the region which is especially recomended. Betwen caves, castels and inselbergs you may rest with the whole of your family, especially with older children. In the south of the region you can go hiking, cycling in the rocky valleies or visit already closed quarries. The center and the north part of Jura Krakowsko-Czestochowska is rich for castels and ruins built during the rule of the Polish king Kazimierz the Great. On the west of Krakow you may visit tree caves: Wierzchowska Gorna, Nietoperzowa and Ciemna made availables to the turists. Cave Wierzchowska Gorna, the biggest one of Jura Krakowsko-Czestochowska, situated near the village Wierzchowie, offers one kilometer of underground tunnel. You could find there rich cave formations, bones of cave beare and reconstruction of animals living in Ice Age.Cave Nietoperzowa is 300 meters long and is totally accessible for tourists. Its name came from bats, which flocks lived there in the XIX century. Now You may meet here only single specimens.Less known is Cave Ciemna, which is in reality, one of the major polish archaeological discoveries with the tools made about 120 thousand years ago. Tourists have opportunity to visit 230 meters of tunnel accompanied by guide. Another place to visit is Lokietek's Grotto, where accordingly to the legend, the King of Poland, Lokietek, was in hiding for six weeks. Visiting grotto you may hear a lot of interesting anecdotes. It is said that you may realize your dream by touching king's bed. Picturesque castel on the rock is situated betwen Olkusz and Skala near a famous inselberg, Maczuga Herkulesa. You could not only view beautiful Pradnik Valley but also taste specialities of Polish cuisine in castle's restaurant.
